Sick days have a downside…I get reflective and introspective. The result? I don’t read comics or eat sugar anymore. And I’m gonna be trimming my video game time waaaaay down. Like, not playing every day.
Sooooo, who wants an explanation!? No? Well, you’re getting one anyways, ’cause this is why I have a blog.
First the sugar, ’cause it’s the simplest. Well, what it boils down to is I’m addicted to sweets. I start seriously having cravings if I don’t eat some regularly. Nothing extremely wrong with this, except for the fact that I have a family history of diabetes and I don’t exercise enough (another change).
What’s the problem with comics you say? Well, nothing really. But there is rarely anything good about them either. They’re like sugar. Make ya feel good for a little bit, but then you’re done and meh. The most you can hope for is running across someone who reads the same ones so that you can swap inside jokes.
And finally games. Well, nothing really wrong with them. But the people I really respect and look up to…almost none of them play video games. And those that do do so in very small amounts. Me? I play video games every day. Usually for at least an hour (when put together). Which makes them one of my most regular activities. And regular activities? Yeah, those are your priorities. And I do not want video games to be a real priority for me. I think they’re fine and great for wasting time or playing with people, but I don’t need to waste that much time.
Well, now that we’ve covered all that we merely have to talk about what I’ll be doing in my new found huge amounts of free time. Well, for starters I’m walking at least a mile every day. As the days go on the distance and speed will go faster, and most days I expect to walk 3+ a day.
Also, know all those old books that are hard to read and take a lot of time to get through? Yeah, I’m gonna read them. The longest book I’ve ever read was Les Miserables. And ya know what, it was awesome. I mean, it was a beast to get through. Some passages I had to re-read several times to really understand what was going on, but man, what a story.
Oh, and when school starts I plan on studying for more then just the tests. I plan on learning the material in a serious way. So if someone were to ask me about something I studied in the spring a year later I would be able to tell them (within reason).
And maybe memorizing some stuff. I have a high respect for people who can recite long things.
Welp, that’s it for now.
